Year’s End Parties for Residents at MVN&RC

What do you do as you approach the end of the year? The residents here, celebrate the ending of the year, with a party!

This year, on December 29th, there were 3 parties going on simultaneously in the Emerald, Coral, and Sapphire Wings, hosted by Activity staff members who received much appreciated help from Nursing staff. Each resident, present at a Year’s End Party, received either a man’s black Top Hat and the ladies received a glittered “Happy New Year” Tiara, and a noise maker. The Dietary Department supplied the Activity hostesses with delicious parfaits and bottles of sparkling Cider, which was served to the residents.

The residents in the Emerald Wing gathered in the Emerald  Grande Room  where they had plenty of room to participate in a recreational game called “Tossing the Ring on the Reindeer’s Antlers”. Resident, Delores, was gracious enough to wear the antlers on her head, so other residents from her wing could try to get a ring caught on an antler. They enjoyed their game and hostess, Mary C, served them refreshments, and they toasted the New Year in with sparkling cider and noise from their horns.

In the Coral Wing, the residents enjoyed conversing and their hostess, Nancy S, lead them in playing Trivia. Nancy served them their refreshments and they toasted in the New Year with sparkling cider and noise makers.

In the Sapphire Wing, the residents enjoyed reminiscing of what they did on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with hostess, Cindy S.  Cindy served them their refreshments, and they toasted in the New Year with sparkling cider as they were lead in singing “Auld Lang Syne”. They also had a good time using their noise makers!

Following the parties, the Activity staff handed out hats, tiaras, and noise makers to the residents who did not attend the party, so they would be ready to have fun New Year’s Eve.
