Friday, October 28th was a fun day of goblins, spooks, and ghosts for the residents of MVN&RC. In the afternoon the residents gathered in the Grande Room to observe the Halloween parade by facility staff and volunteers dressed in unique costumes with resident judges, Delores and Frances, picking 4 winners for being the cutest, most creative, scariest, and the funniest. The room was filled with smiles and laughter as the paraders made their way around the room visiting each resident as they showed off their costumes. Following the judging of the costumes, the residents enjoyed refreshments from the dietary department.
Later in the afternoon “Trunk or Treat” was held in the lower parking lot here at Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehab. Center for children; set up by staff and volunteers. Many of the staff and volunteers were dressed in Halloween attire. There were 20 staff vehicles, an MV Ambulance, and an MV Rescue Fire Truck all decorated in all kinds of themes for this Halloween event. Everyone had a great time as the happy children safely wandered around the vehicles filling their bags with special treats.
The event continued as the children and adults entered the facility in their costumes to meet and greet the residents who were anticipating their arrival. The facility became a beehive of activity, energy, and laughter for all. The children were eager to impress the residents with their customers and to have their pictures taken with residents. Who would think that dinosaurs, princesses, goblins, unicorns, an angel, video game characters, and other strange characters would be roaming the halls inside the facility? The children put smiles and laughter on the faces of the residents, and some residents even received hugs and kisses. Many of the children were impressed by the pumpkins the residents had decorated, earlier in the week, which were displayed on the Nurses’ Desk for all to enjoy.
