MVNRC – This is My Home Away from Home.

Barbara came to stay at MVNRC after a recent heart attack. She had a long road to recovery. Here is what she had to say about her care at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Care focus (Long/short term): Short Term
Date of interview: 7/13/2022

What do you think of the facility?
“I worked here as the Director of Medical Records for 10 years and retired 22 years ago. I didn’t think I would ever have to come here as a patient, but I’m glad I did. Because of my age, the heart attack drained me and I needed a place to get stronger and back to my normal. It wasn’t a hard decision as in this area there’s only about two places and this is the best. I don’t regret it at all. The first day I was here for rehab, I was pleased and amazed by the way the departments spoke to each other and work together. I could not recommend it any higher. You don’t lose your identity or just become another set of papers. Everyone knows your name and makes your feel welcome. It’s brought my children such peace of mind and makes me comfortable knowing I have someplace to go for care. It was so nice too seeing people I knew from 22 years ago! I’m not here to stay this trip, but this is my home away from home.”
Dietary:
“I like the food a lot. I’m not a big eater or in-between muncher, but everything I eat is good. It is so nice that they offer snacks and alternatives.”
Therapy:
“It’s wonderful for getting me back on my feet and the socialization helps pass the time. It’s good for us to exercise our minds and bodies.”
