Residents at the MVNRC were entertained on 3/13/2024, by Glenn Miller, who offered a variety of music, played 3 instruments, sang, and had everyone laughing with his humor. Glenn played his accordion, and at times, his trumpet and harmonica, as he treated the residents to numerous polkas, oldies, and German, Irish, and Italian songs as well. The residents smiled, tapped their feet, clapped their hands, laughed, swayed to the music, and interacted with Glenn. Some of the songs in his repertoire included “Just Because”, “The Pennsylvania Polka”, “My Wild Irish Rose”, “Take Me Out to The Ball Game”, “The Tennessee Waltz”, and “Irish Eyes Are Smiling”, to name a few. Glenn also played and sang “The Great Allentown Fair” which is music he composed and lyrics he wrote.
Glenn informed me, that at the age of 10, he played the trumpet during his parents’ musical performances. By the time he was 15 years old, he was playing in a band and he never stopped. Glenn said he plans to entertain until, “I drop”! He has been entertaining here for 18 years. He has performed at the Allentown Fair for 35 years.
