Bingo Volunteer – Teresa Walk

Teresa Walk was part of the original Bingo Volunteer group that was established over 20 years ago. She is the only member that is still able to come in although not on a regular basis anymore. Along with bringing the prizes for that days Bingo, Teresa works all year long on making little gifts for each resident that attends Bingo that day for all the major Holidays. She also assists residents who need help playing Bingo. Thank you, Teresa, for all the years of dedication to our residents.

GETTING BY GIVING – VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering is a wonderful benefit to your sense of well-being.

Volunteering your skills, knowledge, companionship, and time is a wonderful benefit to your sense of well-being as you age. Decades of learning and experience can be shared with others who can benefit from it. If you have already crossed a bridge, you can help build one for the person coming behind you. Volunteers are needed in all aspects of life. Delivering a meal to those who can no longer navigate the three flights of stairs to their apartment may mean they eat that day and get to stay in their beloved home. Teaching people to read introduces them to the world and shares the knowledge and wisdom of the authors. Each hour of volunteerism adds to our humanity.

P.S. A positive side benefit of sharing yourself is that you get to enjoy the experiences. If you usher at a small local theater, you also enjoy the show.

Honoring Volunteers

Volunteers Make A Difference Every Moment

The theme for this year was “Volunteers Make A Difference Every Moment.”

Volunteers were greeted by Activity staff and a small token of appreciation. Dietary was on hand with some yummy snacks for the event. Activity Director Cindy Swatt spoke on how “Our Volunteers” mean so much to our residents and how they look forward to seeing them. Administrator Michael Mickey also expressed his heartfelt “Thanks” for all they do. It is a blessing to residents, staff, and volunteers themselves.

A word search and a word scramble were handed out for all and small prizes were given to those with the most correct answers.
