Browsing a bookstore is a fun activity, especially on very hot or cold days. A good way to remember the books you want to read is to take a picture of the cover with your phone. You can give potential future reads a once over while sitting in one of the comfortable chairs that many bookstores place throughout the store. You may even strike up a conversation with someone sitting close by who has read the book. Chatting with the bookstore owner or staff will keep you updated on future events such as guest author talks or readings. They can also answer any questions you may have as to when your favorite author’s next book is scheduled to come out.

P.S. Bookstores frequently have excellent magazine racks, pretty card choices, puzzles, and other book-related items for sale.

Joining a book club can enrich your life in so many ways. You may meet new friends who share their perspectives, experiences, and knowledge with you. Because books have the unique ability to transport you to different places and times, they will expand your horizons and, possibly, challenge the way in which you view the world. Book clubs usually read a diverse range of books, and you may find that you unexpectedly enjoy a particular genre or are introduced to an unfamiliar author. Meetings sometimes take place in members’ homes or in settings you’ve never visited before. This is an enjoyable side benefit and certainly fills the calendar in a pleasant way.

P.S. Book clubs are a great way to improve or maintain communication skills, as members discuss, listen, and disagree in an open and friendly manner.
