Surprise visit

Resident Isabelle was one of the many residents that went through the whole COVID-19 pandemic without seeing one of her family members in person.  She did do video calls weekly to stay in touch with her family until visitations were able to be done.  When visitations started, she was able to visit with her daughter weekly but hadn’t seen her grandchildren besides through video calls.  Well today (Wednesday, July 28th) that changed.  To her surprise her daughter,  granddaughter, and great granddaughter and grand puppy came to visit with her. Here is a 4 generational picture and some videos of Isabelle enjoying all the puppy kisses from Dunkin.  At the end of this week she is due for another surprise with another granddaughter being able to make the trip.

Spirit Week – Christmas Dress Up

Every year the staff at Mahoning Valley Nursing Home take the week of Christmas as a “Spirit Week”. Each day we have a different theme.  This year was especially important due to COVID.  Enjoy the pictures that were taken throughout the week of staff and residents participating in this “Spirit Week”.

All residents received a light-up Santa Hat or light-up necklace donated by one of our wonderful staff members.  To see their faces light up and all the smiles were so rewarding during this difficult time.

Honoring Volunteers

Volunteers Make A Difference Every Moment

The theme for this year was “Volunteers Make A Difference Every Moment.”

Volunteers were greeted by Activity staff and a small token of appreciation. Dietary was on hand with some yummy snacks for the event. Activity Director Cindy Swatt spoke on how “Our Volunteers” mean so much to our residents and how they look forward to seeing them.  Administrator Michael Mickey also expressed his heartfelt “Thanks” for all they do.  It is a blessing to residents, staff, and volunteers themselves.

A word search and a word scramble were handed out for all and small prizes were given to those with the most correct answers.
