Motsie and The Boys performing for Seniors

Performing for Nursing Homes

Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation recently had a music group come in and sing for our residents the past week. The interesting thing about this group is one of the performers was a resident for therapy and medical intervention, and they all were self-taught. Not one of them had lessons.

Performing for Seniors

The group Motsie and The Boys consisted of Rodger, Sonny, Bruce, Motsie, Nathan, Spike,  Monroe, and Gerry being the only lady in the group. It all started when Spike and Rodger started playing together for fun and then met new people and continued to grow their group.

Meaningful gifts to give

A PRECIOUS GIFT

It can be difficult to come up with a meaningful gift to give, but oftentimes one is at your fingertips without you even knowing it. Chances are, you have a plant that has moved with you from every home and that holds special memories for you and your family. All you need is a pretty clay pot and a cutting from the plant and there’s a gift that will brighten up any windowsill. Maybe you have a special soup you make every year when fall arrives.  Write down the recipe and a few memories associated with it, roll it up, and tie a beautiful ribbon around it. It will be treasured and made for years to come.

P.S. Get out your old photographs and put them in a scrapbook with the identity of who is in them. The true gift is in sharing the stories and memories associated with them.

Our Activities Department made sure to make the day special for the residents and fathers.  They planned a fun event for them all the day started with a video about the Railroad.  The residents enjoyed the sights and sounds of the video, you could see it in their smiles.

Next was a fun game of Checkers, always favorite here, followed up by some crafts.  Our Dietary made some special treats to enjoy.
