One way for nursing homes to help keep well-loved people as a part of the community is to take part in seasonal events, like an Easter egg hunt. A group of residents from Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center filled plastic Easter Eggs for a local school district’s egg hunt. Our residents had a wonderful time stuffing each little egg with a sweet treat and reminiscing about their own egg hunts.
On St. Patrick’s Day we were entertained by ukulele player George Diehl. He sang Irish tunes, beloved classics, and brought so much joy through his music. Our good friend Nick also joined in the festivities and surprised our residents with coins commemorating the holiday.
That’s right it was wear your Christmas Jammies and so many of us enjoyed it. Check out some the great pictures from the event.
The voices of children are ringing out through the halls of a local nursing home. It’s one of the first groups allowed back after a year of COVID isolation.

Who doesn’t like to make Christmas cookies?? The dietary staff of Mahoning makes sure every year the residents get to make some cookies to eat during our Friendship Tea of December. We make AP, chocolate chip, and peanut butter cookies. It is so much fun to cut out and decorate them. But the best part is to eat them. Here are some pictures of the residents prepping the cookies.
