How do you improve balance as you age?

Balance Training for Seniors

Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as part of our Rehabilitation program we offer.  Balance training helps maintain functional joint stability for increased independence.  It involves doing exercises that strengthen the muscles that help keep you upright, including your legs and core.

Balance Training can Help Prevent Falls

You don’t have to be a world-famous athlete to benefit from regular balance training. Everyone can benefit from it. If your balance is bad, you’re going to have a hard time walking in a straight line or picking up items you drop on the floor.   So it’s best to work with a Therapist to design an exercise and training regime for your needs.

The board in the image above helps creates a greater challenge to the activated muscles to intensify therapeutic effects.

Independence Day at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Everyone remembers the 4th of July with fond memories.  The day gathered with friends and family enjoying Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Ice Cream by day.  Then as the sun begins to set everyone stares with smiles to the skies and the oncoming fireworks to celebrate America.

The residents of Mahoning Valley Nursing And Rehabilitation Center are no exception to this tradition gathered together with family, friends, and the kind staff of MVNRC the residents celebrate the 4th of July much in the same way.

For the celebration staff dressed up in their Red, White, and Blue to bring some Independence Day cheer to our residents. Patriotic music was playing and flowered Lei were handed out to all residents and their families. Many clapped and sang along to the music. Some residents even joined in the parade.  Below are a few pictures to enjoy.

Mix & Match Day

Special Event

Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation CenterMVNRC” had a special event.  Tuesday was Mix n Matchday, the staff definitely hit this one good.  Never heard of Mix & Matchday?  Well, it’s a day that often celebrated a lot in elementary schools where children wear clothes and shoes that don’t match.  The key to this is to make it fun and try to be original.  So everyone at MVNRC took the idea and made it fun for all the residents to enjoy along with the staff.

The staff was walking around in “mix & match” clothing, residents enjoyed a Cake Walk with lots of goodies from The Dietary Department. We had a full circle plus waiting for their chance at a treat. Everyone won!

Come back to see what else we have in store for the rest of the week.

So who did it best??
