Saturday, April 13th MVNRC held an Easter Fun day. Residents, staff, and their families had a chance to decorate an Easter Cupcake made by our Dietary Department. A special visitor also came and joined in on the fun. We also had some of the famous “Candy Man’s” yummy Easter candy for sale. Thanks to all who came and participated in this fun day.
Valentine’s Day was a few days ago Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center had a party for the residents. For this celebration performer Cindy Robertson, was here to celebrate and sing to the residents.
Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is celebrating Ugly Sweater, Vest or Scrubs day or as “Ugly Sweater Day“.
Which is a day meant to be a light-hearted fun day to be yourself and not the boring corporate version suit and tie version of yourself? We know how everyone really hates that stuff. So the idea here is to have some fun and leave the corporate stuff at home. Since Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is in the nursing, rehabilitation and medical care we did it up with our own style. If you’ve ever owned a pet like a dog or a cat, then you know the joy that they can bring you as a pet owner. However, as our friends and family members age they might not be able to care for a pet as they once did. But that does not stop a pet lover from smiling when they see a puppy or love patting a pooch on their head. The use of pets in a care facility like a nursing home can add smiles, joy, to the days of the residents. That’s where special dogs like Snickers who is a Therapy Dog can be helpful to make the residents day a little brighter.
Therapy Dogs are used to visit schools daycares, group homes and rehabilitation homes like Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. These dogs have stable friendly temperaments and easy-going personalities. Patients are encouraged to talk, pet and interact with dogs which helps reduce stress and encourage healing.
Snickers is one of our therapy dogs that started coming to visit when he was a “Puppy”. He came to visit last week while we had the residents on the porch enjoying popsicles. And of course, he had to have some too. Snickers also can do a lot of tricks with the help of his Mommy. Visit again soon Snickers.
Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (MVNRC) held the third and final round of the 2018 Chopped Competition. The last competition was the Dessert category. The contestants had to come with cakes already prepared.
A 3 tier cake was to be assembled and decorated within 30 mins. Basket ingredients where: strawberries, Fondant, food coloring, and Decorating supplies. The contestants had to use all supplies and ingredients inside of the basket and at least but not limited to 1 ingredient from the pantry. 30 mins were put on the clock and the fun began.
