The therapists all concentrate on trying to get you back on your feet.

Some kind words from Marguerite after Short Term Rehab Service at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Name: Marguerite
Care type: Short Term
Date of interview: 6/15/2022

What do you think about the rehab services offered:
“I’ve been through rehab before, so this is kind of the same with the exercises but there are some differences. The therapists all concentrate on trying to get you back on your feet. I like to keep ongoing, so this helps a lot. Everybody is friendly. I picked this place because everyone seemed nice and I like the hominess.”

What do you think about the food?:
“The food is good too. I tried some things I never ate before and I liked it!”

What do you think about the staff:
“They’re all nice, very friendly too. All my needs are met, no complaints here,”

Misc:
I like I’m not far from home either. It’s a good location, easy to get to and there’s good shopping places just up the road.

The facility is very nice.

MVNRC – This is My Home Away from Home.

Barbara came to stay at MVNRC after a recent heart attack. She had a long road to recovery. Here is what she had to say about her care at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Care focus (Long/short term): Short Term
Date of interview: 7/13/2022

What do you think of the facility?
“I worked here as the Director of Medical Records for 10 years and retired 22 years ago. I didn’t think I would ever have to come here as a patient, but I’m glad I did. Because of my age, the heart attack drained me and I needed a place to get stronger and back to my normal. It wasn’t a hard decision as in this area there’s only about two places and this is the best. I don’t regret it at all. The first day I was here for rehab, I was pleased and amazed by the way the departments spoke to each other and work together. I could not recommend it any higher. You don’t lose your identity or just become another set of papers. Everyone knows your name and makes your feel welcome. It’s brought my children such peace of mind and makes me comfortable knowing I have someplace to go for care. It was so nice too seeing people I knew from 22 years ago! I’m not here to stay this trip, but this is my home away from home.”
Dietary:
“I like the food a lot. I’m not a big eater or in-between muncher, but everything I eat is good. It is so nice that they offer snacks and alternatives.”
Therapy:
“It’s wonderful for getting me back on my feet and the socialization helps pass the time. It’s good for us to exercise our minds and bodies.”

Veteran’s Day 2021

On Veteran’s Day, we held our annual Celebration where Nick Hawkey came and he and Nancy S performed a ceremony to honor our Veterans.

Nick is a Retired Corporal with the US Marine Corps and also is a member of the Marine Corps League Bethlehem Detachment 284 and American Legion, Palmerton. Nick has been coming to the facility for at least the last 16 years performing this for us.

We sang some Patriot songs, listened to poems, Pledged the Flag, and each Veteran was presented with a Certificate from the facility.

It was a very heartwarming ceremony seeing our Veterans salute the flag as well as salute Nick when they were receiving their Certificates.

God Bless the USA
