Resident’s Birthday Party

Birthday Time at MVNRC

At the end of each month, MVNRC Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center holds a Birthday Party celebrating all the residents that held a birthday in that month. This is a fun time at MVNRC you can tell everyone gets into the spirit wishing Happy Birthday to those celebrating a birthday.

A cake and treats for all are provided by dietary. Staff announces everyone’s birthday and we sing Happy Birthday to everyone and enjoy some music, conversing with others, and some treats.

First Porch Outing of the Season

Enjoying the Outdoors at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Wednesday was our first porch outing of the season.  With warm weather finally, here after such a long winter spring has seemed to have sprung with a great day.  Our residents enjoyed the warm weather while sitting on our front porch.  Dietary provided everyone with a “cool treat” on this warm day.  While outside, residents enjoyed conversing with one another, listening to soft music, as well as ending our time with the singing of OUR theme song. “You are my Sunshine.”

While the weather cooperates, you may find us enjoying the weather on the front porch or in the Courtyard most afternoons.

Bingo at MVNRC

Bingo is Hot at MVNRC

Penny Bingo

Bingo is one of the HOT activities here at MVNRC…it is held weekly along with either Penny Bingo or Adapted Bingo every other week.  Penny Bingo is held the same way, just using pennies to bid and win. (Pennies provided) Adapted bingo is the same as regular bingo but geared to our residents that may need that extra help and goes at a slower speed, allowing each resident the opportunity to find and cover the number.

We can not thank our Bingo Volunteers enough for all that they do. Assist residents playing, transport, call the winners, and clean up.  We have a great volunteer team to help make our Bingos flow perfectly.

If you are ever visiting during Bingo time, you may hear our residents “jokingly” scolding our caller for not picking the correct numbers, to “shake up the balls” and to get them out of the corners of a round basket, as well as hearing the many phrases she has come up with for some numbers. Our residents even have them memorized and will say them along with her.

If you really want to see something, that’s wonderful. Then you need to see all the smiles and hear the excitement when someone yells “Bingo!”

Snow Day at MVNRC

Snow Day

The words snow day can mean so many different things to many different people.  Shoveling, endlessly just to dig a path to walk, on your sidewalk or uncover your car to get to work.  For some, it may mean that they have to get up extra early to be certain they are able to get to work on time, then there is parking a completely different issue.   But I think more than a few of us may remember when were little and school may have been canceled due to the bad weather.   Many of us may even have some great memories of the fun we had making snowmen, snow angels, building forts or just tossing a few snowballs at one another.  There is no denying the beauty of when you see the outside and it’s been blanketed by a fresh snowfall and just for a few moments you can remember when a snow day was something to look forward to.   The staff and residents of Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center share that feeling from a few of the last snow days we had this past week.  So we took a few pictures and decided to share our snow day with you all.
