Christmas Crafts

In-room Christmas Crafting

Although we are still not having group activities within the facility, we are doing small individual activities in each resident’s room (as accepted).

Here are some video clips and pictures of residents who participated in a Christmas Craft.  They enjoyed making Christmas Trees and/or snowflakes. It was a fun time as well as good therapy for their fingers.

Spirit Week – Christmas Dress Up

Every year the staff at Mahoning Valley Nursing Home take the week of Christmas as a “Spirit Week”. Each day we have a different theme.  This year was especially important due to COVID.  Enjoy the pictures that were taken throughout the week of staff and residents participating in this “Spirit Week”.

All residents received a light-up Santa Hat or light-up necklace donated by one of our wonderful staff members.  To see their faces light up and all the smiles were so rewarding during this difficult time.

Indoor Snowball Fight

What can you do indoors during the holidays, when it’s cold and wet outside?

We have an idea for you how about a Snow Ball Fight?  That’s right you heard me a snowball fight.

But it’s cold, and wet outside, and though it might sound fun getting hit with a hard cold chunk of ice and snow might not be that much fun for everyone.  We changed it up a little so everyone can enjoy one.  No boots, gloves, or even snow was needed for this fun game the Activities Department organized.

On the day of an impending big snow storm why not have an indoor snowball fight with the staff to help spread some fun and smiles around the facility.  A loving staff member donated these fake snowballs a few years back to the Activities department. They are a soft material that is washable.  Residents and staff alike enjoy throwing them at each other.

Everyone was safe and no snow was used to make this an extra fun event check out the videos.

Memorial Day Sing-Along

Celebrating Memorial Day

Remembering the sacrifices of those who gave their lives for us is important.  So the Activities Dept. had a little sing-along with the residents of Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center this past memorial day.  We wanted to share the videos and images from the event.

Name That Tune – Hallway Edition

Live from MVNRC – Name That Tune

Many of us remember the TV show Name That Tune.  It was an American TV Show which started in the ’50s where two contestants would test their knowledge of songs.  First starting on the radio then becoming a TV show that lasted for many years.

The Activities Department took the idea and applied it to a little fun activity the residents of Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  But they added a twist while keeping social distancing guidelines in place by using safe spacing and the hallways to play the game.

Every wing goes to play the game take a look at the videos and pictures that we took during the event.  I think you’ll agree they had fun.

Valentines Day Craft – Card for Loved Ones

Valentines Cards for Loved Ones

The Activities Dept. staff had a crafting project that they did with the residents.  Since Valentine’s Day was just days away.  Why not work with the residents to make some cards they can give loved ones.  A spouse, adult child, even a few for those special members of the staff.

What’s your favorite card?  Be sure to see them all.
