Relaxing and enjoying the fresh air and good friends in the Valley.

Relaxing and enjoying the fresh air and good friends in the Valley. Many residents enjoyed gathering on the front porch at the Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on this beautiful day in August, “in the good old summer time”! Residents are enjoying conversing with peer friends, getting to know other peers better, and conversing with Activity staff. During our porch outing, polka music was played today on a CD player, with staff and residents clapping and singing along. Cold ice cream or sherbet was served to residents who wished to have some. There were smiles, laughter, and a good time was had by all who attended this event.

First Porch Outing of 2022

Today we had our first front porch outing of the season.  We loved the warmth and simply sitting in the sun. The flowers were in full bloom and the birds were entertaining us with their songs. We shared memories of summers long ago, our hopes for the coming months, and even played ball with Krista from the therapy department! We are already looking forward to the next outing!

Making Christmas Cookies for 2021

Who doesn’t like to make Christmas cookies??  The dietary staff of Mahoning makes sure every year the residents get to make some cookies to eat during our Friendship Tea of December.  We make AP, chocolate chip, and peanut butter cookies.  It is so much fun to cut out and decorate them.  But the best part is to eat them.  Here are some pictures of the residents prepping the cookies.

Independence Day Parade 2021

We were able to capture some pictures and a video clip from our Independence Day Parade held on Friday.   And let me tell you the residents and staff of MVNRC can really cut loose.

Check out Activity staff Nancy S., Cindy S., Vicki B. along with Brenda K. and Nicole S. walked the halls of the facility playing Patriotic Music and handing out Red, White, and Blue Lei necklaces to each resident.  Singing, clapping, and some dancing were included in the fun.
